Book Meme

Take the five books nearest you, and use the following sentences to make a passage:

Book 1 - 1st sentence
Book 2 - last sentence, page 50
Book 3 - 2nd sentence, page 100
Book 4 - next to last sentence, page 150
Book 5 - final sentence

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do:  once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures in it, 'and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice, 'without pictures or conversation?'  The sense of hearing lends itself very readily to the setting up of associations.  The effect of even rhythm - that of a smoot, unimpeded flow of any particular emotion - is so obvious as to need no comment; but dotted rhythms function in a more complex way.  Visual appearances, since they so readily commute, can be replicated.  And just like those fragile moments that follow the ending of a sheeringly beautiful piece of music, it is hoped that the melody and the rhythm of this book will linger for a while to come... and perhaps even fill your dreams.

As you may have guessed, four of those books were all music/language text books, relating to the fact that I was researching the connection between the two for a presentation last week.  And the other was Alice in Wonderland!!  Heh, now I probably look like an incredibly childish academic...  Actually, I'm reading that because the German Soc's play this year is Alice im Wunderland... I'm not a total child!!!

Hi.

I'd like to read a fanfic of your's but cannot find it:

"112. Harry's primary school teacher reports the Dursleys to Social Services, and Harry and Dudley are made wards of the state. How does a decade of being bounced from foster home to foster home affect Harry, and where is he sorted? claimed by mk_tortie"

Embarassingly, that's because it's still not finished... I hit a bad case of writer's block and so it's only about half done! If/When it does get finished, I'll post it to Omniocular... sorry about that!
