First of all, thank you so much for offering to write one of these amazing fandoms! I love each and every one of them, so whichever you end up writing, I absolutely can't wait to read your story. A little bit about me, so you know who you're writing for - I come from the UK (London!) but I've lived in Toronto, Canada for the last couple of years, where I study East German film in grad school. I'm a singer and songwriter, I love to direct plays, and I love travelling all over the world and learning about languages and cultures. You can probably piece the rest together from the public bits of my journal, and my LJ profile!
I'm not the most active person in any fandom, however, so I've put together a few notes in general and on each fandom to help you get some ideas, which I hope is useful to you :D
In General
There are a few things I love to see in fic: genfic, plot! Plot! Plot!, character development, before/after the canon stories, alternative endings/au diversions, (if you happen to know both L&O and The Newsroom then I would LOVE to see a crossover between the two based off Will's background as a lawyer, but no worries if this doesn't appeal/you have another idea!), canon ships/friendships, friendship fic, plotty character development (did I mention I like plot?), hurt/comfort. I'd also love a fic that fits the Misses Clause Challenge, if it's at all possible - especially for Heißer Sommer and Pitch Perfect!
There are some things I wouldn't really want: surprise!ships (i.e. non-canon ships/friendships/enemies in a story with no justification, explanation or background), romance as a focus (but it's lovely as an aside - don't feel like you can't show any romance at all if it's something you enjoy writing!), sex scenes/porn (but I'm OK with fade-to-black), ooc-ness, crossovers with canons I don't know, PWPs/lemons, gender-bending, total AUs (eg hipster AU, high school AU etc), any character bashing.
Things I'm ambivalent about: holiday stories - I'm not against these, but I'm not interested in fluff with no plot, so a holiday story would have to be a story-taking-place-on-a-holiday rather than just characters doing happy Christmas things for the sake of it!
Law & Order
Characters requested: Jack McCoy, Lennie Briscoe
Signup details: I am very happy to see other characters featured in the fic as well as the ones requested above, but Jack and Lennie are my favourites! I also really like Claire Kincaid, Anita van Buren, Adam Schiff, and all of Lennie's partners, so feel free to include as many as you'd like.
Why I love this fandom and these characters: I've spent most of this year marathoning Law and Order from the start to the end of season 14, and I just love it. (On that note, please no spoilers past season 14! I may have watched further than that by Christmas but I can't guarantee it.) I particularly have developed a bit of a Sam Waterston crush (seriously, he can do no wrong!) and Jack is pretty much my favourite character, alongside Lennie. I love the dynamic between the characters, too, and the little moments of character and relationship building we see - so of course the season 6 episode 'Aftershock' was one of my favourites.
I love Jack's 'wtf?' face and reactions to things that make no sense, and Lennie's awesome one-liners. I also love those scenes (in a heartbreaking way) where Adam has to let a friend or former colleague know that he's not going to make a case against them go away, because he has to do what's right.
Some prompts: I'd love to see a bit more 'after the character leaves' reactions: we see some of the fallout from Claire Kincaid's death, but nowhere near as much as I would have liked! The same goes for Adam's departure - although we find out why he has to go, it still felt pretty abrupt.
Another thing I'd love to see would be just more plot - an extra episode, or extracts from one. Anything that has Lennie and any of his partners interacting, and Jack and any of his partners, and Adam as DA would be awesome! Bonus points if you can throw in Anita being disapproving/secretly approving (*g*), awesome Lennie one-liners, and Jack/his team pulling a rabbit out of the hat at the last minute.
Fandom-specific things I would love: Any of the above, plus it would be amazing if you could make the story fit in (even only in an indirect mention) with real events or a real crime. I love it when L&O references RL stuff!
Fandom-specific things I wouldn't enjoy so much: Anything 'shippy' - I'm not interested in stories where the sole focus is to get two (or more!) of the characters together. It seems like most of the fic in this fandom is ship!fic, and I would love to see some plotty gen! I don't mind ships in the background, or established canon ships, but I'd prefer the focus to be plot and character and canon relationship development than ship!fic.
The Newsroom
Characters requested: Will McAvoy, Charlie Skinner, Neal Sampat
Signup details: I love the interaction between Will and Charlie, and I love Neal's character and what we've found out about his back-story so far. So either a story that shows us Neal's background in more detail and how he came to work at ACN, which cameos from Will and Charlie, or a story that is plotty with amusing conversations between Charlie and Will would be wonderful! Or anything else involving those three characters to some extent would be great.
Why I love this fandom and these characters: I was linked to a clip from the season finale on Facebook a couple of months ago, and instantly knew I had to go watch this show. I love the escapism and fantasy of the thing - the dream of a utopian news broadcast, which actually turns out to still be pretty flawed in a number of ways. I adore the way they take real life events for the show's news - I love that kind of realism!
The characters I've picked for Yuletide are the ones I clicked with right away, as soon as I started watching the show. Charlie is one of the main reasons I started watching - as soon as I saw Sam Waterston in the season finale clip, I knew this had to be good. (See my L&O request for my feelings about Sam Waterston, heh!) I love the character, especially his exchanges with Will - their conversations are amazing. I like his irreverent attitude, his kindness, and his ability to stand up for what he believes in.
The same goes for Will - I see him and Charlie as pretty alike. I love the way we see the different aspects of his character, backstory, and relationship with Mackenzie unfold over the ten episodes, because I ended up loving his character while at the same time being totally aware of all his flaws (which I think is my feeling about the show in general, to be honest!)
My feeling of connection to Neal probably comes from loving Dev Patel, first of all, and identifying with him as a fellow Londoner (which sounds incredibly cheesy, and is probably a result of my being a lone Brit in an island of Canadians, *g*). He just seems like such an honest character - this super hardworking, super nice guy. I think I have a bit of a thing for the nice guys, basically... Even the ones that pretend not to be! (*cough*Will*cough*).
Some prompts: So I gave a couple in my Signup Details already - Neal's backstory, and how he came to work at ACN. Equally, that backstory for any of the three would be great (and if that means you can't work in all three, then so be it, although it would be awesome if you can!) - what made Will choose to leave the Bar and become a news anchor? (and was it related to his split from Mackenzie??) How did Charlie get into the business, back in the day? (A young-Charlie story with Mad-Men style TV business antics would be kind of amazing, heh).
Alternatively, a plot surrounding a news event that the show didn't cover would be amazing - I love the tying in of RL events. If you can't manage a whole episode (which would definitely be kind of epic if you did!) then snippets from one would be great - or even a 'Five Items News Night never covered and one item they did' kind of story would be fun!
Fandom-specific things I would love: Awesome conversations between Charlie and Will, Bigfoot mentions from Neal, the rest of the cast making cameo appearances (especially Sloan and Jim!), Will's heart of gold but also his sneaky tricks.
Fandom-specific things I wouldn't enjoy so much: I wouldn't really be interested in slash between any of the three characters I've requested. In which case, a good backstory as to how they got together would be very important. Equally, I'd prefer a story that focused on canon relationships and friendships, without a ship as the main focus (so there can be Will/Mackenzie, for example, but I'd prefer it not to be the main story!) I'm also not a big fan of the Don/Maggie/Jim plot line, although I love Jim as a character.

Signup details: I adore this movie, and I study East German cinema so I'm so interested in the whole context it fits into as well. I'd love to see the characters lives after their holiday - what did they do? How did it go? Something darker/grittier than the film would be wonderful, or equally, something that fits into the light-hearted silliness (or a fic that somehow dealt with the darker side of life while keeping up the film's vibe would be incredibly, but I realise that's probably impossible, *g*). Basically, I'd love to see some 'what happened next' fic, or even 'what happened before'. I don't mind which of the characters in the film you choose to focus on - any of the main teenage characters would be fine!
Why I love this fandom and these characters: Well, as a said in the beginning of my letter, I study East German cinema, and that's how I came across this film. I loved it the first time I saw it, and then after a drunken night of singing along to it, Disney-style with the German subtitles on (like those sing-along movies!) I loved it even more. The songs are so kitchy and hilarious, especially the main song and 'Woher willst du wissen wer ich bin'. (The dancing in haybales! I love it!)
I like the way all the characters fulfil different clichés as well, and all their little catchphrases ('himmlich!') and the tricks they play on each other. But it's mainly the songs, the cheesy dancing, and the ridiculous plot line that makes me want to show this film to everyone I meet!
Some prompts: As I said in my Signup, I'd love some before or after fic - either what did the characters do before this holiday, or what happened to them afterwards? If you can work in some of the realities of life in East Germany, I would love you forever - this film was made after the building of the Berlin Wall, and the characters would have to face the realities of a high divorce rate, lack of freedom to travel, and separation from West German relatives in their adult lives. How did they deal with being 'good socialists' (as most of them try to be) as they grow up? I'd love to see a story that has one or more of them struggling with that.
Alternatively, I'd love to see something that is totally in keeping with the kitchy nature of the movie - maybe some of the relationships formed between the boys and girls lasting after the film, or maybe even more snippets of what happened that night when they all paired off, since the film focuses on the main two pairs. Either way, kitchy or serious, I will love you if you write me a story for this film!!
Fandom-specific things I would love: Something that picks up on all the little quirks of each character would be awesome, and a story with a soundtrack/ suggested listening to go with it would also be amazing! If you can somehow work in equally cheesy music from that point in time as an illustration, that would be above and beyond the call of duty, but would be absolutely fantastic.
Fandom-specific things I wouldn't enjoy so much: For this film, there's not much I wouldn't want to see, beyond things that fit into my general dislikes - so no PWPs or super long sex scenes, please! However, I totally think that a story about ships/pairings could fit this film really well, so I don't mind a ship (or multiple ones) being the focus here.
Pitch Perfect
Characters requested: Cynthia Rose, Chloe, Beca, Fat Amy
Signup details: This movie <3 I would love to see what happens next to the girls (and that can definitely be some, all of, or just one of the ones requested, although I would obviously prefer all if it's doable! Also any other characters you want to include are completely fine, I also love Lilly and Jesse and everyone else too!) What happens in their second year together? Do they carry on? Is there drama? Or does it break apart? Or even, what happens later in their lives? Does Beca make it in LA, or give up on that plan for something else?
Equally, back story for any of the characters would be amazing, especially Lilly, Fat Amy, or Cynthia Rose - we get such tantalising details of their stories in the film!
Why I love this fandom and these characters: So I knew I had to request this for Yuletide when I'd only seen the trailer for the movie - I finally saw the movie two days after signing up! I am just a total sucker for singing movies, and a capella (I'm a big fan of The Sing-Off) and awesome comedy, so this film was just perfect to me... pitch perfect! xD
I haven't laughed this hard at a film in a long time - the humour here was awesome, but I also love how real the characters seem. Some of them are pretty ridiculous, but there's a grain of truth there and they are all multi-faceted, 3D people, not just the butts of jokes in the film.
My favourite scenes are the singing ones, and the ones where the girls are getting to know each other. I loooove the sing-off and rehearsal in the empty swimming pool (more sing-offs in your story would be amazing!) and the competition scenes. Character-wise, I love the characters I've requested, and also Lilly, who I just found hilarious.
Some prompts: As per my Signup details, I'd love to see a story set either in their second year as the new, improved Bellas, or otherwise later in their lives. Tensions, drama, getting to know each other better - all of those things would be awesome. Plus cameos from the Treble Makers would be great, and I'm not averse to some 'fraternising' between the two groups ;) Basically, can you write me the movie sequel? I'm joking... (mostly, heh) but snippets from Pitch Perfect 2 would be amazing. Character development, more awesome music (listening recommendations to go with the fic would make me squee) and some fun plot lines with a little bit of drama and some more laughs would make me super happy.
Fandom-specific things I would love: If you could work in the commentators and their passive-aggressive bitchiness, that would be amazing. Sing-offs in the swimming pool would also be awesome to see, plus more competition - maybe a new rival? Or some kind of crossover with The Sing-Off would be amazing, if you're familiar with the show (just pretend it didn't get cancelled... Ssshhh... ;D) Flirtation/innuendo between the characters, along the lines of what we see in the film would also be wonderful (although if it leads to anything more than that then please fade-to-black!)
Fandom-specific things I wouldn't enjoy so much: I wouldn't want a fic that solely focused on one character, or one relationship particularly - one of the things I really love about the movie is the group dynamic, so lots of cameos would make me much happier than an in-depth look at one character only! Basically, so long as what you do stays in the spirit of the film, I'll be really happy to read it :D

Plus cameos from the Treble Makers would be great, and I'm not averse to some 'fraternising' between the two groups ;) Basically, can you write me the movie sequel? I'm joking... (mostly, heh) but snippets from Pitch Perfect 2 would be amazing. Character development, more awesome music (listening recommendations to go with the fic would make me squee) and some fun plot lines with a little bit of drama and some more laughs would make me super happy.
Fandom-specific things I would love: If you could work in the commentators and their passive-aggressive bitchiness, that would be amazing. Sing-offs in the swimming pool would also be awesome to see, plus more competition - maybe a new rival? Or some kind of crossover with The Sing-Off would be amazing, if you're familiar with the show (just pretend it didn't get cancelled... Ssshhh... ;D) Flirtation/innuendo between the characters, along the lines of what we see in the film would also be wonderful (although if it leads to anything more than that then please fade-to-black!)
Fandom-specific things I wouldn't enjoy so much: I wouldn't want a fic that solely focused on one character, or one relationship particularly - one of the things I really love about the movie is the group dynamic, so lots of cameos would make me much happier than an in-depth look at one character only! Basically, so long as what you do stays in the spirit of the film, I'll be really happy to read it :D
