Dreams

I had two very weird dreams the other night - lucid enough that I remember them both fairly vividly and that after one I woke up gasping, and the other I woke up crying.

In the first, I was driving my car down the Alton road towards Hook, behind a lorry. I don't remember if anyone was in the car with me, but I was trying to overtake the lorry. However, every time I thought about it, the lorry started weaving about in the road, so I decided not to. Eventually, I started to pull out, and was just overtaking it, when it started to move over in the road towards me. It drove me off the road (on the wrong side) and that's when I woke up, just before I felt the crash.

Then, I dreamt that I was in some sort of pseudo medieval castle, and a man wearing sort of children's-tv spoof jester clothes in bright colours was about to behead my Dad with this sort of day-glo axe. It was pink and green and yellow. For some reason, I didn't think there was anything wrong with this - I somehow knew he'd done something to deserve it, so although I didn't feel good about it, I didn't try to stop it. Then (I'm not joking here) the executioner began to behead my Dad, and I watched the whole thing, in graphic detail. The axe didn't go all the way through the first time, so he had to do it twice, and there was blood everywhere. At this point I still felt fairly emotionally mute in the dream, so I wasn't all that affected by this (although thinking about it afterwards... eergh!?!). Anyway, the next bit I remember is being sat on my parent's bed in my house, and suddenly realising that my Dad was dead, and crying (in the dream) and my Mum bringing me porridge with raisins in to eat to try to make me feel better. Everything kept reminding me of my Dad though, and then I woke up, still sort of crying.

How weird is that? I haven't had dreams that vivid for ages, and then I get two in quick succession, one where I die (I assume) and another with my Dad... I suppose my subconcious must be telling me something, but I've searched some websites for dream interpretations and none of it makes sense. Meh. Ah well, at least they were only dreams. And it's not like I haven't dreamed of death before! I got shot once in a dream, by this rastafarian guy in a Ford Fiesta. I have WEIRD dreams, I guess.

Ho hum.

how horrid :( don't worry about it though, stuff like death in dreams generally seems to mean good things like new starts, good fortune etc! weird I know, but Freud was a weird man. hope you're not upset about them though - I would be, purely from seeing nasty things!

although maybe you should try abstaining from cheese before bed ... heehee ;)

Actually I did eat, like, half a camembert before I went to bed... oh dear. I think I've worked out the meaning anyway. The first one is to do with my own fears about the future (as in I don't know where I'm going and I'm scared that I might 'crash' if I try anything too adventurous) and the second is to do with not living at home anymore - I'm going to be in London over the summer - I guess I have technically left home. So yeah. Heh. Am not that weirded out anymore, to be honest, just... interested. I do think dreams can say some things about our feelings etc. So yeah. Faaaascinating.
